XRP (XRP) reserves across three major exchanges have fallen by about 240 million tokens since early summer, even as the asset remains under pressure near $1.

Key Points:

  • XRP reserves across three exchanges fell about 2.2% since early summer.
  • Binance posted the largest percentage decline, while Upbit still holds most of the tracked supply.
  • Large XRP transfers and whale accumulation have increased despite a nearly 10% monthly price decline.

XRP Exchange Reserves

CryptoQuant data showed reserves across Upbit, Binance and Bithumb dropped to roughly 10.84 billion XRP by Aug. 19, from about 11.08 billion in late May and early June.

Upbit held 6.40 billion XRP, down about 110 million, or 1.7%, from May. 30. Binance recorded the sharpest percentage decline.

Its reserves fell 3.7% to 2.62 billion XRP from 2.72 billion, while Bithumb's balance declined about 1.6% to 1.82 billion from 1.85 billion on Jun. 2.

Upbit and Bithumb still held about 8.22 billion XRP combined, equal to nearly 76% of reserves tracked across the three platforms. Withdrawal-heavy activity appeared elsewhere, with Coinbase posting a seven-day net wallet count of minus 14,300 as of Aug. 18.

Coinbase represented 47.3% of the absolute imbalance, its highest share since July 2024, while Binance's share rose to about 10%. Crypto.com recorded minus 2,680, while Binance stood at minus 3,270 and Upbit's share fell to about 12% from 40% in June.

Ali Martinez Data

Large transactions also increased while XRP's price remained weak, according to data shared by crypto analyst Ali Martinez. Transfers worth more than $1 million jumped 280% in one day to nearly 40, after sitting near 10 during each of the prior two days.

Wallets holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP also accumulated about 72 million tokens in one day. The XRP Ledger recorded nearly 50,000 active addresses over 24 hours last week.

Falling exchange balances can reduce the amount of XRP immediately available for sale, but they do not guarantee stronger prices. XRP remains down almost 10% over the past month, while social sentiment recently fell to a three-month low despite higher whale and network activity.
