Stellar (XLM) traded near $0.172 on Sept. 2 as momentum weakened, while Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) prepared an October tokenization launch.

Key Points:

  • XLM traded near $0.172 after retreating from above $0.20 in late August.
  • DTCC plans to launch its tokenization service in October after live production transactions in July.
  • DTC-tokenized assets are expected to reach the Stellar network in the first half of 2027.

Stellar Tokenization Timeline

DTCC plans to launch its tokenization service in October after processing live production transactions with tokenized DTC-custodied assets in July, moving the project from testing into real market workflows. Stellar is already part of the broader rollout plan.

The Depository Trust Company (DTC) said in May that its tokenization service would connect with the Stellar public blockchain, with tokenized DTC assets expected on the network in the first half of 2027. The timing matters. The schedule leaves several months between the October service launch and Stellar’s planned integration, so the initial rollout will not immediately put tokenized DTC assets on Stellar.

The July transactions involved dozens of institutions and tested tokenized assets in production conditions, giving DTCC more evidence on how blockchain infrastructure can operate alongside existing market systems and how public networks may fit into that model.

XLM Market Outlook

XLM’s immediate market picture remains weaker than the longer-term network outlook. The token traded around $0.172 on Sept. 2 after moving above $0.20 in late August, then gradually surrendered part of that advance.

Technical indicators showed limited momentum, with the 14-day relative strength index near neutral and the MACD line below its signal line, while the histogram had turned negative again, according to TradingView data. The setup remains weak. Those readings do not establish a lasting bearish trend, but they show that the late-August advance had lost strength by the start of September.

Derivatives positioning reflected similar caution, with aggregated open interest falling from about $95 million to $78.6 million during the previous week.

Funding remained positive at 0.0031, according to Coinalyze, suggesting traders had not shifted decisively bearish even as leveraged exposure declined.

The contrast between Stellar’s coming network development and XLM’s current price action remains central to the outlook.

Price has already reversed part of its August move. XLM briefly moved above $0.20 in late August before falling back toward $0.172 by Sept. 2, leaving the token below its recent local high and without a sustained response to the longer-term DTCC integration plan.
