Apple's iOS 27 beta 5 hides references to six unreleased iPhones, spanning the full iPhone 18 lineup and the company's first foldable, internally called the iPhone Ultra.
Key Points:
- iOS 27 beta 5 lists six unannounced iPhone identifiers inside battery-related system files.
- The codes point to the iPhone 18, 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, 18e, Air 2 and the foldable iPhone Ultra.
- Apple has confirmed none of the devices, and three of them are not expected until 2027.
iOS 27 Beta Names Six iPhones
Apple shipped the build to developers Monday, a week later than planned. The hidden entries were spotted a day later, tucked inside system files tied to battery drivers and the Battery Intelligence feature, next to records for phones already on sale.
The code lists internal identifiers rather than marketing names. Reporters have matched V62 to the iPhone Air 2, V63 and V64 to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, V67 to the standard iPhone 18, V68 to the iPhone Ultra, and V69 to the iPhone 18e.
Those pairings rest on earlier leaks and on prior reporting by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who has used the same internal codes in his own reporting on Apple's product roadmap.
Apple has confirmed none of the six devices. The company should announce a date for its fall event within a couple of weeks.

Why The iPhone Ultra Entry Matters
This is the first time the whole iPhone 18 family has surfaced together inside an iOS 27 beta, though individual codes have leaked before. Earlier builds referenced foldable displays and dual-battery hardware. Neither feature exists in any iPhone the company sells today, and the new entries reveal no screen sizes, chips, prices or launch dates.
Battery code is a logical hiding place, because iOS has to handle each new power configuration and battery layout well before the hardware reaches buyers. The identifiers also track a release calendar split across two seasons, with the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Ultra expected next month and the other three slipping to early 2027.
Apple's Reshuffled iPhone Calendar
Tech columnist David Phelan argues that the delay clears the stage for the foldable and buys Apple time on rising component costs. Six annual iPhones would crowd a single keynote, he wrote, and a spring slot hands buyers whose carrier contracts lapse in winter something new to choose from rather than a nine-month wait.
On his final earnings call as chief executive, Tim Cook said memory pricing would keep climbing and weigh on the business past September, with carried-in inventory cushioning only the current quarter.
Apple has staggered its launches before, though never the flagship itself. The iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and Air arrived together last September, with the cheaper iPhone 17e following in March, and the iPhone 16 series ran the same course a year earlier.
