iPhone Ultra Screens And Price Take Shape

The device is expected to drop Face ID for a Touch ID power button and to skip the telephoto lens, leaving two rear cameras and no optical zoom. It should run a modified version of iOS rather than iPadOS, with side-by-side apps on the larger screen.

Melissa Otto, head of research at S&P Global Visible Alpha, said the event lets Apple argue why its version deserves attention, and added that investors want evidence on artificial intelligence.
The stakes reach past a single product. iPhone sales have slowed in a saturated home market, where Americans already own about 158 million of the phones. Research firm IDC expects Apple's entry to lift foldable shipments 13% this year to 22.9 million units, even as it projects total smartphone shipments falling 16.7%.
Apple Foldable Delays Stretch Back Years
