Bitget has registered as a financial services provider in New Zealand, widening the compliance base the crypto exchange says it needs for products beyond trading.

The exchange now appears on New Zealand's Financial Service Providers Register.
The listing covers foreign currency exchange, money transfers at home and across borders, custody of client assets, and portfolio and money management. It also covers the execution of financial product and foreign exchange transactions that the exchange carries out for clients.
Bitget has separately joined the New Zealand Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman scheme, an independent body that handles disputes involving participating financial service providers. Eligible customers can use it to raise complaints.

Bitget Compliance Expansion Explained
"Financial platforms need compliance structures that can support a wider mix of assets and services," said Gracy Chen, Bitget's chief executive. She said the registration adds another layer to the company's international framework as the platform keeps connecting digital assets with established markets. The company ties the move to products including tokenized real-world assets.
The exchange has built its approvals gradually, with registrations in Australia, El Salvador and several European Union countries, though the record stays uneven. Bitget confirmed this week that it holds no authorization from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which has placed the exchange on its investor alert list.
