Sui Foundation has launched a $10 million ecosystem fund for AI infrastructure and DeFi projects building around the Sui (SUI) ecosystem.

Sui Builder Fund

The Sui Foundation is directing the new fund toward teams developing decentralized AI infrastructure and DeFi-native applications on its Layer-1 blockchain. The initiative is designed to provide project support as teams move from development toward deployment.

The package includes development support, security audit credits, technical assistance and funding tied to milestones. The capital will not be distributed all at once. That structure gives the foundation a way to back projects over time while linking support to progress rather than treating the $10 million as an immediate market injection.

The program also reflects Sui's effort to attract developers in a crowded Layer-1 market, where networks compete on performance, tooling and access to capital. The foundation is focusing the fund on categories that could generate recurring network activity if projects reach users and maintain demand after incentives end.

AI DeFi Focus

AI applications can create demand for payments, data markets, identity tools, compute access and automated coordination, while DeFi protocols depend on fast settlement, liquidity and reliable infrastructure. Sui is positioning its architecture as a base for both categories, particularly for applications that require frequent transactions and relatively low operating costs.

The more immediate test is likely to come from DeFi, where new lending markets, decentralized exchanges, derivatives tools and liquidity systems can produce visible changes in deposits, trading and stablecoin activity.

Grants can lower the cost of launching those products, but they do not guarantee that developers will retain users once financial support or other incentives fade.

Security support could also matter because audit costs often arrive before a protocol has meaningful revenue. By including audit credits and technical assistance, the fund addresses part of the launch burden while keeping funding connected to development milestones.

Sui has already been building a broader developer-support system around Move, including funding programs, technical resources and tools for teams launching on the network.

The new $10 million fund narrows that strategy toward AI and DeFi, making adoption, sustained liquidity and developer retention the clearest measures of whether the spending produces durable results.
