Eric Trump denied claims that President Donald Trump is preparing a new cryptocurrency, calling the rumor fraudulent as three existing Trump-linked tokens remain far below their peaks.

Key Points:

  • Eric Trump said no new coin is being launched and warned that claims suggesting otherwise are fraudulent.
  • Three existing Trump-linked tokens remain sharply below their respective peak prices.
  • Trump-linked crypto ventures are also facing scrutiny over losses, income and investor risks.

Eric Trump Denial

The denial followed a post from the Whale Scan account on X claiming President Trump was preparing to launch another cryptocurrency. In an Aug. 22 response, Eric Trump rejected the claim outright and warned users against treating it as legitimate.

“What a joke… This is absolutely not true. No one is launching any kind of coin. If anyone is suggesting otherwise, it’s a fraud.”

The denial comes as Official Trump (TRUMP) remains far below its $73.43 all-time high, trading at $2.58 at press time after reaching its peak within two days of launch. Melania Meme (MELANIA) traded near $0.1074, almost 99% below its peak, while World Liberty Financial (WLFI) was near $0.06 after previously reaching about $0.33.

Crypto Venture Risks

Trump Media and Technology Group bought 11,542 Bitcoin (BTC) for $1.368 billion at an average price of $118,529 before continuing to sell holdings as Bitcoin declined. The company recently sold another 2,628 BTC for $165.07 million, reportedly locking in about $145 million in losses.

Trump’s latest financial disclosure showed family-backed crypto ventures generated more than $1.4 billion in reported 2025 income, adding another layer of scrutiny around the family’s digital-asset businesses. The figures matter because the rumor surfaced while those established ventures were already drawing attention over market losses and reported earnings. Justin Sun has separately renewed criticism of World Liberty Financial, warning investors about risks surrounding WLFI and its USD1 (USD1) stablecoin.

The latest rumor follows earlier Trump-linked crypto launches that have since suffered steep reversals from their highest prices. TRUMP reached $73.43 within two days of launch, MELANIA arrived two days later and fell nearly 99% from its peak, while WLFI declined about 78% from its high.
