Bitcoin (BTC) is consolidating below recent highs in a possible bull flag, with $90,000 in view if the pattern confirms and breaks upward.

Key Points:

  • Bitcoin reached a local high of $79,500 before pulling back to $76,700 as short-term momentum cooled.
  • The bull flag remains unconfirmed.
  • A deeper correction could bring $69,000 into focus, where several technical support levels converge.

Bitcoin Bull Flag

Bitcoin's pullback from $79,500 has begun to resemble a classic bull flag, a continuation pattern that can precede another advance. The structure is not complete.

The analysis, written by Laurie Dunn, said a confirmed flag would normally require at least three touches on both its upper and lower boundaries before traders can treat the pattern as established. Bitcoin has so far retraced only to the 0.236 Fibonacci level, leaving the pullback unusually shallow after last week's rapid advance.

Laurie Dunn Outlook

The technical picture also leaves room for a larger correction because the daily chart places horizontal support, the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement and the 200-day simple moving average near $69,000. That overlap creates a notable support zone.

On the weekly chart, Bitcoin faces resistance around $78,600, followed by another barrier near $82,750, levels that could determine whether the current move extends toward the projected $90,000 target. Momentum remains stretched.

The Relative Strength Index is in overbought territory on the daily chart, while the weekly RSI has broken above a longer-term downtrend that still needs to hold through the end of the week. A successful hold would strengthen the bullish case.

Crypto Daily also cautioned that another sharp leg higher without a broader reset could make the eventual correction more severe, because buying pressure cannot accelerate indefinitely.

A slower consolidation would give the market more time to absorb the recent move and test support before another breakout attempt.

Bitcoin's latest setup follows a much longer technical cycle that began with an eight-month bull flag in February 2024 and included an RSI downtrend stretching back to November 2024. The current RSI breakout may have weakened that older bearish structure, but confirmation still depends on how the weekly candle closes.
