XRP (XRP) closed at $1.00 on Aug. 12, its weakest daily close since November 2024, leaving the token 69% below its January 2025 peak.

Key Points:

  • XRP posted a $1.00 daily close on Aug. 12, its lowest since November 2024
  • Daily active addresses averaged about 35,700 in August, up from roughly 26,400 in July
  • New wallet creation stayed flat near 2,260 a day, pointing to absent fresh demand

XRP Price Slides To 21-Month Low

Blockchain analytics firm Santiment flagged the close on Thursday, and the token had already slipped as low as $0.99 during the prior session before clawing its way back above the line. That break undid a support level XRP had defended since the closing weeks of 2024, when the token last changed hands this cheaply against the dollar. The rebound to roughly $1.01 has convinced almost nobody.

Traders watched open interest rebuild through the first half of August even as spot demand stayed thin, a combination that tends to widen price swings rather than cushion them. Leverage returned faster than conviction, and the added positioning has not produced the buying needed to lift the token clear of the $1 handle.

Santiment Data Splits Activity From Adoption

The on-chain picture cuts against the price, because daily active addresses averaged about 35,700 in August, up roughly a third from 26,400 through July, with Aug. 11 the busiest session since Jun. 5. New address creation refused to follow. That gap between usage and adoption now sits at the center of the bearish case.

Wallet creation held near 2,260 a day this month against 2,270 in July, a difference narrow enough to count as no change, which leaves the pool of participants essentially fixed. Santiment concluded that the existing base is transacting more while the wallet count stands still, and called the rising-activity reading only half right.

XRP Selling Pressure Deepens On Binance

Derivatives desks have leaned the same way, and the taker buy/sell ratio on Binance dropped to 0.86, its weakest reading since May, according to CryptoQuant figures. A print below 1 means aggressive sellers are hitting bids faster than buyers lift offers, and the ratio has spent most of the past month under that line. Brief moves above it never turned into a trend.

Analysts described the figure as an imbalance rather than a forecast, noting that a sustained return above 1 on heavier volume would signal real demand instead of a pause in the selling. Several traders still expect one more push below $1.

The slide has been grinding rather than sudden. XRP reached $3.65 in July 2025, a record that briefly lifted its market value above $200 billion, and the token has since surrendered close to 70% of that level.

Nearly 30% of its market capitalization has gone in the past three months, though wallets holding at least 1 million tokens grew by 32 over the same stretch, leaving Ripple's largest holders buying into the decline.
