A new Bitget report finds that most aspiring Web3 workers cannot land a first job, pointing to hiring barriers rather than a shortage of skilled candidates.

Bitget released the findings on Jun. 18 under its Blockchain4Youth initiative. The study surveyed aspiring and early-career professionals across several regions.
More than 54% named prior experience requirements for junior roles as the biggest barrier to entry, while 52% said their education delivered theory but few practical skills. Emerging markets featured heavily. Nigeria, Indonesia and China supplied nearly half of all respondents, about 46% were aged 23 to 30, and more than 58% held bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees.

Web3 Hiring Gap Widens
Gracy Chen, chief executive of Bitget, said the industry has attracted talent worldwide but must now turn that interest into jobs. AI and blockchain convergence ranked as the top career path at 61%, while 62% cited mentorship as the most valuable support. "The findings show there is a large pool of motivated and educated candidates, but many are struggling to take the first step into the industry," Chen said.
Blockchain4Youth has expanded steadily since its 2023 launch. The program has engaged more than 15,000 participants, partnered with over 70 universities, and recently saw its Learning Hub pass 10,000 registered learners.
