Bitcoin (BTC) pulled back after nearing $82,000 on Sunday, as Middle East tensions returned and a fresh technical sell signal appeared.

Key Points:

  • Bitcoin climbed from about $75,000 to nearly $82,000 within days before sellers stopped the advance.
  • Fresh geopolitical risk hit just as BTC tested a resistance area near $82,000.
  • TD Sequential shifted from a buy signal near $75,000 to a sell signal after BTC reached about $81,500.

Bitcoin Pullback

Bitcoin approached $82,000 after rebounding from roughly $75,000, its strongest level since early September, before the breakout attempt lost momentum. The rally had already absorbed two major setbacks earlier in the week.

The Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, while the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, yet BTC recovered quickly from the resulting pressure. Buyers pushed the cryptocurrency back above $80,000.

The reversal then coincided with renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen, after Saudi officials said air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile fired toward Riyadh. The Houthis also claimed missile and drone attacks on the capital and facilities in Yanbu.

The U.S. State Department warned that the conflict “has the potential to escalate rapidly” and urged Americans outside the Middle East to seriously reconsider travel through the region. Donald Trump cut short his Camp David weekend and returned to the White House, although the administration did not publicly explain the schedule change.

That uncertainty arrived as Bitcoin tested an area that had already acted as resistance. BTC had climbed close to $82,000 for the first time in about two weeks, leaving the market exposed to profit-taking after the rapid recovery.

Ali Martinez Signal

Technical analyst Ali Martinez pointed to the TD Sequential indicator, which had produced a buy signal when Bitcoin dropped toward $75,000. By Saturday evening, it had switched to a sell signal after BTC reached about $81,500, suggesting short-term momentum was becoming stretched.

The indicator does not establish that Bitcoin must fall, but it adds a technical hurdle to a market already dealing with fresh geopolitical uncertainty. The $82,000 area remains the immediate barrier.

Bitcoin’s latest pullback follows several sharp swings during September, when the asset repeatedly moved between the mid-$70,000 range and resistance above $80,000. That pattern has defined Bitcoin’s September trading so far. The recovery from $75,000 showed buyers remained active, but another rejection near $82,000 left the upper end of the range unresolved.
