A Binance Research study says Bitcoin (BTC) may have a stronger recovery setup after its Sept. 8 golden cross followed a 293-day market reset.

Key Points:

  • Bitcoin’s Sept. 8 golden cross came after 293 days below its 200-day moving average during the previous year.
  • Six earlier crosses following at least 150 days below that trend posted peak gains of about 100% to 600% within the next year.
  • Binance cautioned that the sample is small, overlaps across periods and measures peak gains rather than 12-month holding returns.

Bitcoin Golden Cross

Binance Research examined 12 earlier golden crosses, which form when the 50-day moving average rises above the 200-day moving average.

The researchers then grouped the events by how long Bitcoin had traded below its 200-day average during the preceding year. That created two broad reset groups.

The six crosses following at least 150 days below the long-term trend produced peak gains of roughly 100% to 600% over the next year. Four of the six crosses after shallower resets peaked below 100%, although Binance said longer resets did not consistently lead to larger rallies. The pattern was not linear.

Bitcoin also closed at $81,159 on Sept. 20, its first weekly close above the 50-week moving average since Nov. 9, 2025. Binance said sustained weekly closes above that level would strengthen the reversal case, while a move back below it would weaken the technical signal.

Binance Research Outlook

The technical improvement is developing against a more difficult macro backdrop, with the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield reaching 5.17% by Sept. 25, its highest level since 2007.

Binance linked the move to stronger business activity, Brent crude above $103 and a weak Treasury auction that pushed Oct. rate-hike odds toward 70%. Rate pressure quickly returned.

Bitcoin retreated from above $86,000 as those pressures increased, trading at $83,175 at the time of BeInCrypto’s report. Spot demand held up. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $998.95 million on Sept. 21, their largest daily inflow of 2026, supporting Binance’s view that demand was not driven only by futures positioning.

Binance said upcoming inflation and employment data will test whether Bitcoin can keep holding above its 50-week average. The firm also stressed that the historical sample is too small to treat the golden cross as a reliable forecast.

The closest historical comparison came in Oct. 2015, when a golden cross followed about 297 days below the 200-day average and Bitcoin later reached a peak gain near 150% within a year. The strongest runs in Binance’s sample instead followed resets of just over 150 days in Feb. and May 2020. Reset length was not decisive.
