British clearing bank ClearBank has selected Swiss infrastructure provider Taurus to power its expansion into stablecoin-based payment services.
The partnership will deploy Taurus-PROTECT as ClearBank's wallet infrastructure provider for digital asset custody and management.
The integration focuses initially on stablecoins including MiCAR-compliant USDC and EURC through connectivity with Circle Mint, **Circle'**s institutional issuance platform.
Strategic Expansion
ClearBank's digital asset strategy follows its announcement to join the Circle Payment Network, enabling blockchain-based cross-border value transfers.
The clearing bank aims to combine traditional payment infrastructure with stablecoin technology for corporate payments and international remittances.
Taurus-PROTECT provides institutional-grade custody across hot, warm and cold storage configurations designed for regulated financial institutions.
The platform supports custody, staking and asset servicing for cryptocurrencies, tokenized securities and digital currencies.

Market Context
The stablecoin market surpassed $300 billion in total capitalization during 2025, representing approximately 50% year-over-year growth.
Regulatory clarity including the U.S. GENIUS Act has encouraged institutional participation in stablecoin infrastructure.
Taurus serves over 35 regulated financial institutions globally including Deutsche Bank and State Street.
The Switzerland-based firm raised $65 million in Series B funding led by Credit Suisse before its acquisition.
"Working with Taurus-PROTECT gives us the robust and compliant digital asset capabilities we need as we introduce new services," ClearBank CEO Mark Fairless said.
The partnership represents traditional banking's continued integration with blockchain-based payment rails following regulatory advances in major markets.
