Apple is expected to ship iOS 27.2 this month, bringing Dual Capture to Group FaceTime calls, context-based Messages suggestions and user profiles in the Apple TV app.
Key Points:
- iOS 27.2 is in beta testing and is widely expected to reach iPhones in October.
- Messages suggestions return after Apple pulled them shortly before the iOS 27 launch.
- The redesigned Health app is in the beta but may not make the final release.
Apple iOS 27.2 Features
Apple has been testing iOS 27.2 with developers since Sept. 16, skipping iOS 27.1, which it is reserving for the foldable iPhone Duo due Oct. 23.
Beta testers have found anniversary reminders in Call Context, themes for CarPlay Ultra and a Podcasts home screen that splits Up Next into New Episodes and Continue Playing. The anniversary alert appears when you call a contact.
Dual Capture, which shows the front and rear cameras at once, currently works only in one-on-one FaceTime calls. iOS 27.2 extends it to group calls, while the Apple TV app on iPhone gains viewer profiles that limit child accounts to PG-rated content by default.
Messages suggestions are back, too. The feature places one-tap buttons under texts, offering to add a mentioned event to Calendar or turn a request into a reminder or note. Apple pulled it shortly before the iOS 27 public launch, saying it would arrive in a future software update.

Ryan Christoffel On Suggestions
Ryan Christoffel, who has been testing the beta, said the summer version of suggestions sometimes popped up when a conversation gave no clear reason for them. He now sees fewer prompts, and the reason is always obvious when one appears, a shift he said could explain why Apple held the feature back.
Not every beta feature is guaranteed to ship.
Health App Timing
The redesigned Health app, which Apple unveiled at its September iPhone event, sorts data into Insights, Longevity and Browse tabs.
It may be pulled from the shipping build, however, and reportedly return in iOS 27.3 later this year.
iOS 27 reached iPhones on Sept. 14 with Siri AI, but Apple held back two Apple Intelligence features at launch, Messages suggestions and AI fixes for weak or compromised passwords. A follow-up release, iOS 27.0.1, arrived Sept. 28. Apple also promised Siri AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October, and those languages are already in the iOS 27.2 beta.
