U.S. spot XRP (XRP) funds shed $5.15 million on Sept. 17, erasing the prior session's gain, while Bitcoin (BTC) funds drew about $159 million.
Key Points:
- XRP exchange-traded funds posted $5.15 million in net outflows on Sept. 17, with 21Shares behind most of the exit.
- Bitcoin funds collected roughly $159 million the same day, while Ether funds lost money for a third straight session.
- Analyst Ali Martinez says XRP has to defend the $1.31 to $1.35 zone before it can move higher.
ETF Outflows Return
Spot XRP exchange-traded funds recorded $5.15 million in net outflows on Sept. 17, reversing a single day of buying. The 21Shares XRP ETF accounted for about $3.78 million of the total, followed by Canary Capital's XRP fund at roughly $1.37 million. Combined assets across the group stood near $1.39 billion once the redemptions settled.
The withdrawal wiped out a $3.5 million inflow booked the session before, when Franklin Templeton's XRPZ took in almost all of the new money. Bitcoin funds ran the other way on Thursday, collecting roughly $159 million as the token climbed more than 1% to about $77,216.
Spot Ether (ETH) funds lost about $39 million on the same day, their third straight session of redemptions. Those products had shed about $224 million on Wednesday and $141 million on Tuesday. Over 30 days, though, Ether funds remain more than $1.5 billion ahead and Bitcoin funds nearly $2.5 billion.

Martinez Eyes XRP Support
Thursday's split came two days after the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by a quarter point to a range of 3.75% to 4%, its first increase since 2023. Higher policy rates lift the return on cash, which tends to make investors more selective about riskier holdings, though stocks, bonds and crypto all rallied on Thursday as oil prices fell.
Analyst Ali Martinez said XRP has to hold a support zone between $1.31 and $1.35 before it can push higher. He pointed to $1.38 as the level that would confirm a breakout. A decisive move above that mark, he added, could open the way toward $1.60.
The token gained about 2% on Thursday but has traded near $1.30 for most of the week, under the floor Martinez wants to see defended. Wednesday's inflow, small as it was, did nothing to lift it out of that range.
XRP Fund Flows Since August
XRP funds gathered more than $150 million in August, their strongest month of 2026, and roughly $110 million of that total landed in the final week alone. That run tracked a rally which lifted the token from a cycle low just under $1.00 to above $1.55 in under two weeks. September has been choppier, with the funds drawing $11.26 million on Sept. 14 and cumulative inflows now near $1.72 billion, as the daily tally swings between positive, flat and negative sessions.
