JPMorgan says Hyperliquid faces stronger competition from regulated trading and prediction-market platforms as inflows into HYPE (HYPE) exchange-traded funds stall.

Key Points:

  • JPMorgan says regulated U.S. perpetual-futures venues could pull liquidity from decentralized platforms.
  • Hyperliquid's Outcomes product enters an already crowded prediction-market sector.
  • HYPE ETF inflows slowed in July and early August after record May and June demand.

Hyperliquid Competition

Analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou said in a report that Hyperliquid's market share could weaken as compliant U.S. venues expand crypto perpetual futures. The report did not forecast an immediate collapse.

It instead identified structural risks involving unlicensed derivatives, limited know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering controls, manipulation, cyberattacks, oracle failures and weaker consumer safeguards on decentralized venues.

JPMorgan said regulated perpetual products could shift liquidity from offshore and decentralized platforms toward U.S. venues, where investors may prefer clearer oversight and protections.

Hyperliquid is also pushing into prediction markets. Its Outcomes contracts launched in May after testing earlier in 2026, but the product enters a field with established platforms and new competitors.

HYPE ETF Outlook

JPMorgan tied HYPE's value to platform activity, especially fees from perpetual futures, making any loss of trading share important for token demand and valuation. That link raises the stakes.

The bank said ETF inflows stalled in July and early August after reaching record levels, measured as a share of assets under management, in May and June. Crypto funds followed a different pattern.

Broader crypto ETFs reversed from heavy May and June outflows to small inflows in July and early August. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) products held about $77 billion and $10 billion, respectively. Other funds held $2 billion to $3 billion, mainly across Solana (SOL), XRP (XRP) and Hyperliquid products.

JPMorgan also questioned whether HYPE could eventually surpass Solana and XRP by market capitalization. The analysts said that outcome “remains to be seen,” framing it as an unresolved possibility rather than a firm forecast.

Interest in HYPE also reaches corporate treasuries, where JPMorgan ranked it fourth behind Bitcoin, Ether and Solana. The analysts said ETF flows and market share in trading and prediction markets will remain the key indicators.

HYPE ETF demand peaked in May and June before cooling in July and the first days of August, while Hyperliquid broadened its product range with Outcomes in May. The sequence shows that early fund demand has not yet resolved whether platform expansion can offset stronger regulated and prediction-market competition.
