Optimism says total value locked across its Superchain has passed $14 billion, underscoring the expansion of OP Stack networks beyond OP Mainnet.
Key Points:
- Optimism says aggregate Superchain TVL has crossed $14 billion across multiple OP Stack networks.
- The total includes networks such as Base and World Chain, not OP Mainnet alone.
- The milestone shows ecosystem scale, while interoperability between those chains remains a work in progress.
Optimism Superchain TVL
Optimism reported that aggregate TVL across the Superchain has moved above $14 billion, a figure that combines capital held across multiple networks built with its OP Stack technology. The total includes Base, World Chain and other deployments with separate applications and user bases.
The figure should not be read as $14 billion locked directly on OP Mainnet. Instead, it measures the broader economic footprint of a group of chains that share parts of Optimism’s technical roadmap while continuing to operate as distinct networks.
That distinction affects how the number should be compared with other blockchain metrics. A single-chain TVL figure measures capital on one network, while Superchain TVL combines assets spread across several OP Stack ecosystems.

OP Stack Interoperability
Optimism’s longer-term plan is to make those networks function more like parts of one connected system through shared proofs, messaging and cross-chain state. Those efforts are intended to reduce friction when users and applications move between chains.
For now, the $14 billion milestone mainly reflects scale. Users still interact with separate chains, bridges and application environments, so aggregate TVL does not yet indicate seamless interoperability across the Superchain.
The model could become more significant for developers if shared tooling and standards reduce the cost of deploying applications across multiple OP Stack chains.
Future interoperability could also make the choice of an individual chain less visible to users if capital and applications can move more easily between networks.
The Superchain concept has developed around Optimism’s attempt to extend the OP Stack beyond a single Layer 2 and into a network of related chains. Its next test is whether those separate ecosystems can become more connected without worsening the liquidity fragmentation that rollups were designed to address.
