RippleX has added XRP (XRP) and RLUSD (RLUSD) support for a machine-payments standard developed by Stripe and Tempo, expanding XRPL tools for automated AI transactions while XRP traded near $1.38 on Sep. 20.

Key Points:

  • XRPL AI Starter Kit v1.1 supports the Machine Payments Protocol and Open Wallet Standard for agent payments and wallet access.
  • XRP can settle single MPP charges and payment-channel sessions, while RLUSD support currently covers single payments.
  • XRP rebounded from $1.29 this week, but the $1.45 to $1.55 area remains a technical hurdle.

XRP Payment Tools

RippleX released version 1.1 of its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit on Sep. 17, adding support for MPP, an open payment standard co-authored by Stripe and Tempo, and the Open Wallet Standard. The update connects XRPL to tools designed for software-driven payments and multichain wallet access.

MPP uses an HTTP 402 request to let a service quote a price, receive authorization from software and deliver a resource without a conventional account or checkout flow. No checkout is required. On XRPL, single charges can settle in XRP and issued assets, while recurring sessions can use XRP payment channels that aggregate payments before final settlement.

The update also adds a common wallet interface through OWS, giving software a way to request XRPL signatures without using chain-specific wallet handling. The announcement describes protocol support rather than Stripe routing its own payment volume through XRP. The distinction matters.

XRP traded around $1.38 on Sep. 20 after bouncing from a weekly low of $1.29, while the market analysis placed its 50-day moving average near $1.45 and the August high near $1.55. Those levels remain central to the short-term setup.

Crypto analyst ChartNerd said XRP had lost both channel and hourly RSI support, a combination that could point to a bearish divergence and a pullback toward the mid-$1.30 range. That caution contrasts with the bullish case, which would require price to reclaim nearby resistance before traders could assess a stronger breakout.

The AI-payment support matters because it gives developers a way to use XRP as a settlement asset for autonomous software, rather than limiting the token to transactions initiated directly by people. Whether that creates meaningful demand depends on actual developer adoption and payment volume, neither of which was quantified in the announcement.

XRP's latest move follows another volatile stretch: the token fell to $1.29 this week, recovered toward $1.38 by Sep. 20 and remained below the $1.55 August high. That leaves the market between a recent rebound and resistance that has not yet been cleared. A break above the August high would mark the first higher high since May, while another rejection would leave the recent range intact.
