Galaxy Predicts Bitcoin At $250,000 By 2027, Warns 2026 Remains Too Chaotic To Forecast

Galaxy Research projects Bitcoin will reach $250,000 by the end of 2027 while declining to offer precise predictions for 2026. The firm characterizes next year as "too chaotic to predict," though it acknowledges new all-time highs remain possible amid heightened market uncertainty.

What Happened: Galaxy's Long-Term Price Target

Galaxy Research issued its 2026 outlook, setting a $250,000 Bitcoin price target for year-end 2027 while acknowledging significant near-term volatility. Options markets currently price equal odds of BTC reaching either $70,000 or $130,000 by June 2026, with year-end 2026 possibilities ranging from $50,000 to $250,000.

The firm noted broader cryptocurrency markets have already entered bear territory. Bitcoin has failed to firmly reestablish bullish momentum above the $100,000 to $105,000 range, suggesting downside risk persists in the near term.

Galaxy cited several factors creating uncertainty, including the pace of artificial intelligence capital expenditure deployment, monetary policy conditions and the U.S. midterm elections in November.

At press time, Bitcoin traded at $89,654.

The research firm highlighted a structural shift in Bitcoin's volatility profile, noting longer-term volatility has decreased throughout the year.

Why It Matters: Institutional Maturation Accelerates

Galaxy expects the asset's institutional adoption will continue regardless of 2026's price direction. The firm projects U.S. spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund net inflows will exceed $50 billion in 2026, building on 2025's $23 billion.

Major platforms including Vanguard, previously resistant to cryptocurrency exposure, have added crypto funds to their offerings. Wirehouses have lifted restrictions on advisor recommendations, expanding institutional access.

Galaxy anticipates Bitcoin funds will achieve inclusion in model portfolios at 1% to 2% strategic weights once they meet higher asset-under-management thresholds and sustained liquidity requirements.

The firm stated its bullish outlook over longer time periods is strengthening despite potential near-term volatility.

The research team emphasized Bitcoin's evolution from a growth asset to one that trades like traditional macro instruments. Increasing institutional access is combining with relaxing monetary policy and demand for non-dollar hedge assets, according to the report.
