Charles Hoskinson says Cardano (ADA) could benefit from the same disciplined development strategy that helped Anthropic challenge larger artificial intelligence companies.
Key Points:
- Hoskinson compared Cardano’s research-led approach with Anthropic’s rise against established AI companies.
- He cited the $292 million Kelp DAO exploit as evidence that rapid development can spread risks across decentralized finance.
- ADA remains about 95% below its record high, leaving Cardano’s long-term strategy under pressure.
Cardano Strategy
In a recent interview, Hoskinson said Anthropic advanced despite entering artificial intelligence later than Google and OpenAI. He argued that its advantage came from a consistent development philosophy rather than a simple push to release products faster.
Hoskinson said crypto developers and investors are becoming more concerned with security, governance and sustainable roadmaps as attacks expose weaknesses across connected protocols.
“People are starting to wake up, especially in the age of AI hacking, where everything is getting broken,” he said.
He pointed to the April attack on Kelp DAO, which involved about $292 million in rsETH after forged cross-chain messages compromised its bridge configuration. The attacker used fraudulent assets as collateral on Aave and other lending platforms, showing how problems in one system can spread through decentralized finance.

ADA Outlook
Hoskinson said lasting stability requires clear governance, disciplined software development and a roadmap that teams can maintain. He acknowledged that Cardano made mistakes during its long development, adding that he bears much of the responsibility as its leader.
The argument faces a difficult market test. CoinGecko valued Cardano near $6.26 billion on Jul. 24, ranking it 19th, while ADA traded near $0.17 and roughly 95% below its September 2021 record of $3.09.
Hoskinson said he expects strong network growth over the next 12 to 24 months, though adoption and token performance will determine whether the slower approach gains wider support. Cardano has long emphasized peer-reviewed research and staged upgrades, but that method has also drawn criticism for delaying ecosystem expansion while faster rivals attracted users and capital.
