Nvidia Vera CPU Specifications And Benchmarks

The company detailed the processor on Tuesday, releasing the specifications and testing data that prospective buyers need before they commit to an order.

Representatives said the first Vera chips reached OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX in June.

Documentation shows 88 Olympus cores, 176 hardware threads and a 164MB unified L3 cache on a single compute die. Each core uses a neural branch predictor and a 10-wide decoder. Memory bandwidth reaches 1.2 terabytes per second.

Nvidia said the chip draws between 250 watts and 450 watts.

Analysts Assess AMD And Intel Exposure

Nvidia claims Vera runs agent workloads up to 1.8 times faster than x86 processors, a figure drawn from its own July testing that outside labs have not confirmed.

Reviewers who compared the results against AMD's Epyc 9755 noted the benchmarks remain unofficial.

Gartner analyst Kevin Knox said AMD is currently the company to beat in enterprise AI server CPUs. Cambrian AI Research founder Karl Freund argued Nvidia built the part to loosen customer dependence on Intel and AMD silicon. He said the design occupies a category rivals cannot yet match.

Nvidia CPU Strategy And Market Context

Nvidia puts the eventual server CPU market at $200 billion, well above a Bernstein estimate that valued the mature market near $37 billion in 2025. Wolfe Research forecast an average price around $5,000 per chip and roughly 1.3 million shipments this year.

The previous data center processor, Grace, relied on off-the-shelf Arm Neoverse cores rather than a custom design. Analysts who tracked the shift note Vera marks Nvidia's first server core built from scratch. Investors have already repriced the incumbents, with AMD up 128% and Intel up 149% so far in 2026, against an 8% gain for Nvidia.
