Why Traders Keep Buying A Token That Calls Itself 'Useless'

Useless Coin (USELESS), the Solana-based meme token that openly markets itself as having “no utility, no roadmap, no promises,” continues to maintain a nine-figure valuation even after a sharp cooldown from its peak, a dynamic that offers a revealing look at how meme coins behave in 2025.

The token hit an all-time high of $0.4346 on Oct. 14, after surging from its all-time low of $0.0052 in early June.

It has since corrected significantly, yet still sits at a market cap of roughly $129 million, supported by active liquidity and sustained trading interest, according to CoinGecko data.

A Token Whose Promoters Say It Has No Value

What makes the story notable is not the price movement, but the unusually direct messaging from the token’s most visible community promoters.

Speaking to Yellow.com, Unipcs, one of the highest-engagement voices behind USELESS said there is nothing investors should expect from the token beyond the joke itself:

“Nothing. The project blatantly claims to be useless, so I’d be surprised if anyone buys it with the expectation of ‘value’. The token’s name, marketing, and everything associated with it objectively states that it is a useless token making a mockery of the entire meme coin space and 99% of crypto,” he said.

Most projects attempt to soften weaknesses with vague promises of “ecosystem expansion” or “future utility.”

USELESS does the opposite and yet, liquidity remains strong.

Why Traders Keep Buying A Token That Tells Them Not To

Asked why a token with no fundamentals continues attracting buyers, Unipcs pointed to the underlying mechanics of the meme coins. “Meme coins as a whole can be viewed as attention tokenized. Their success will depend on how mainstream and viral they are.” This mirrors the behavior seen across 2025’s meme-token landscape, where viral traction often outweighs technology, utility or governance.

According to him, Useless simply takes the meme meta to its logical conclusion: “Meme coins have generally adopted an ‘anti-utility’ identity for a long time. Useless seems timeless because the truth it speaks, and what it represents, has been true for as long as crypto has existed.”

A Market Case Study In Pure Sentiment

The token’s rise coincided with:

  • High-velocity social growth
  • Strong Solana meme coin momentum
  • A Coinbase and Binance listing that expanded retail access

But the staying power of its $129 million market cap, despite a steep pullback from ATH, highlights that the meme coin market in late 2025 is driven almost entirely by sentiment, virality and cultural resonance rather than utility.
