Bitget, Binance, Justin Sun Among Crypto Backers Supporting Hong Kong’s Deadliest Tower Fire Victims

The cryptocurrency industry has mobilized millions of dollars in relief following the catastrophic fire that swept through Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court estate on Nov. 26, one of the city’s deadliest residential disasters in decades.

The blaze, which authorities classified as a five-alarm event, engulfed multiple high-rise blocks in Tai Po, leaving at least 128 people dead, more than 70 injured, and hundreds displaced. Police have since arrested renovation-site directors and a consultant on suspicion of manslaughter as investigations continue.

Bitget said the relief fund is structured for transparent, timely deployment and aligned with ongoing government emergency measures.

Their contributions will go toward victim support, community rehabilitation and reconstruction programs.

A Concentrated Industry Response to An Unprecedented Urban Tragedy

With more than $4.8 million pledged across major exchanges and prominent industry figures, the crypto sector has emerged as one of the most active private contributors to relief efforts.

The donations add to government emergency funds, temporary housing programmes and ongoing community-led support for survivors and bereaved families.

As authorities continue investigations into renovation oversight, building safety failures and criminal liability, relief work remains focused on providing medical treatment, shelter, financial support and mental-health services to the thousands of residents affected by Hong Kong’s deadliest residential fire since the 1940s.
