Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget is expanding its second-year Blockchain4Her initiative around International Women's Day, combining a social media push on unconscious bias, regional offline events, and a new co-branded debit card.
The campaign, backed by a $10 million commitment the company made when launching the initiative in January 2024, targets a cryptocurrency industry where women account for fewer than 5% of founders.
The exchange frames the gender gap as a commercial problem, not just a social one, arguing that excluding half the global population structurally limits liquidity and innovation in Web3.
What Happened
Bitget announced a global social media campaign focused on identifying unconscious bias in Web3, alongside a series of in-person events across Southeast Asia, East Asia, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Latin America.
Activities range from networking sessions and panel discussions with Web2 and Web3 leaders to creative workshops such as flower arrangement and pottery.
The exchange also launched a limited-edition International Women's Day card in partnership with Bitget Wallet, featuring anti-bias messaging and global spending capability via Mastercard and Visa in more than 50 countries.
"Even in crypto, the disparity is big," Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said in a statement. "It's truly the role of bigger players to recognize the capabilities and influence women have, especially in the financial sector."

Why It Matters
Blockchain4Her entered its second year in March 2025 after the initiative's first year produced measurable outcomes: 11 women-led startups funded through a "Pitch n' Slay" competition and more than 300,000 people reached through education and events, according to Bitget's own disclosures.
The company also joined UNICEF's Game Changers Coalition last year, committing to blockchain education for 1.1 million people by 2027.
Whether the initiative moves the needle on broader industry participation remains to be seen. Bitget has not released independently verified data on how Blockchain4Her has changed user demographics on its platform since the program launched.
