Bittensor (TAO) has reclaimed the $202.50 level and sits roughly 6% higher on the week, though the token's advance stalled over the past 24 hours.

Key Points:

  • TAO trades near $203 after clearing $202.50, a level that capped rallies for several weeks.
  • Daily volume is running roughly 50% above the token's 30-day average, but price slipped about 1% in the last session.
  • Whale and derivatives figures behind a widely shared $240 target trace to a single analysis and lack second-source confirmation.

TAO Price Clears A Multi-Week Ceiling

The token changed hands near $203.65 on Monday, down about 1% from the $205.55 it fetched a day earlier. Seven days ago it traded at $191.26, and the $202.50 area had capped every rally attempt for several weeks before buyers finally pushed through it.

Volume backs the move, with roughly $141.2 million changing hands over 24 hours against a 30-day daily average near $94.1 million. Weekly turnover averaged about $115.2 million. That pattern suggests participation built steadily rather than spiking across a single session.

The reclaimed level matters more for market structure than for the size of the gain itself, because former resistance often turns into support and hands buyers a defined line to defend on the next pullback.

Whale Data And The $240 Question

One technical analysis argued that larger whale orders, buyer-dominated spot flows and a 12% rise in open interest could carry the token toward $240. Those figures could not be matched against a second source. The same analysis put 24-hour volume at $128 million, well below what exchange data showed, so the $240 figure reads as one desk's projection rather than a settled market view.

Sentiment around decentralized AI tokens has firmed this month, and that backdrop is easier to confirm than any chart projection, with angel investor Jason Calacanis urging followers on Aug. 4 to sell half their Bitcoin (BTC) holdings and rotate into TAO and Solana (SOL), a call that circulated widely among traders who track the sector.

Bittensor's Punishing Year

Context matters here, because 2026 has been rough for holders. TAO opened January near $278 after a 27% first-week rally tied to a Grayscale ETF filing, then pushed toward $350 in April before surrendering most of those gains. By the first week of August it traded below $190.

Supply dynamics explain part of the standing bid, since a December halving cut daily emissions from 7,200 tokens to 3,600 against a fixed 21 million cap.

The token still trades far below its all-time high of $760.18, reached in April 2024, and even a run to $240 would leave it inside the same band it has churned through all year.
