OpenAI is rolling out GPT-6 across ChatGPT with Intelligent UI, a feature that answers with interactive charts, forms and calculators for more than 1.2 billion weekly users.
Key Points:
- GPT-6 with Intelligent UI reached paid ChatGPT plans on Oct. 7 and free tiers a day later.
- Answers can now include tappable buttons, charts, forms and small tools such as a bill splitter.
- Tech writers say it could challenge calculator websites and open new room for hallucinations.
GPT-6 Rollout Details
OpenAI announced the update in a blog post on Oct. 7, saying it trained GPT-6 to compose replies from text, visuals and interactive elements chosen to fit each question. Paid plans came first.
Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers got access that day, and the rollout reached Free and Go accounts on Oct. 8, though Enterprise availability depends on workplace admin settings.
Paid tiers run on a model called GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go users get the less capable GPT-6 Luna, and the models behind ChatGPT Work and Codex stay unchanged. Company examples include a retirement savings calculator, a bill splitter, a road trip map, a bicycle diagram with tappable parts and a retro game that runs inside the conversation.
Speed changed too. The model can begin answering while it is still reasoning, and OpenAI said GPT-6 Instant starts replying to web search questions 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant. A library of ready-made components and a compiler let the interface appear on screen progressively as the model generates it, rather than after the full response is complete.

Selvan On Visual Answers
Aarush Selvan, a product manager at OpenAI, told reporters that ChatGPT has mostly been a text product, but that "the most helpful answers aren't just text" for tasks like planning a trip. He demonstrated the feature by asking ChatGPT how an airplane wing generates lift, and the chatbot answered with several diagrams showing how planes stay in the air.
Search industry writer Matt G. Southern argued that websites built around calculators and converters could face new competition, since people can now request such tools without leaving the chat.
Technology writer AJ Dellinger warned that the feature could use up tokens faster and that visual elements add another layer where hallucinations can occur. OpenAI itself conceded that the model's design judgment still needs work.
Google Generative UI Precedent
Generated interfaces are not new to the industry.
Google introduced a comparable generative interface with its Gemini 3 model last year, and ChatGPT itself added interactive charts in June after rolling out interactive math and science modules in March. GPT-6 arrived in stages. The Sol and Luna models first launched on Sept. 22 for ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API, about two weeks before they reached the main chat product.
