X launched Smart Cashtags on iPhone, giving users in the United States and Canada access to real-time stock and crypto price data directly inside the platform's timeline.
X Cashtags Launch
Nikita Bier, X's head of product, announced the rollout on Apr. 14. The feature, first revealed in January 2026, lets users search for a cashtag or contract address and instantly see suggested stocks or cryptocurrencies.
Tapping a cashtag opens a dedicated feed of related posts paired with a live price chart.
Users can follow market discussions and price movements without leaving the app.
X also unveiled a pilot integration with Wealthsimple, a major Canadian brokerage. Canadian users will see a trading button on Cashtag pages, allowing them to buy or sell assets directly. "Our vision is more than just charts," Bier wrote. "The content on X is valuable & actionable, so trading should be frictionless."
The feature is currently limited to iPhone. Bier confirmed that web, Android and global availability are planned soon.

Crypto And Finance Ambitions
Bier described Cashtags as the platform's first step toward becoming the "best destination" for finance and crypto communities.
The rollout aligns with Elon Musk's long-standing ambition to turn X into an "everything app" that spans payments, trading and social media.
Before the launch, Bier posted a cryptic message suggesting X should ship something to help fix crypto's difficult year. He did not confirm whether Cashtags was that product, but called the feature "just a small preview of what's to come."
