Google widened Gemini's task automation to more than 40 apps and made Gemini Notebook standard on Samsung's newest foldables, unveiled Wednesday at Galaxy Unpacked.

Gemini Task Automation Expands
Google introduced the feature in beta in February, letting users hand off simple errands like hailing a rideshare or ordering a takeout meal for delivery. The broader version, detailed on Wednesday, now spans shopping, restaurant reservations, travel booking and event tickets across dozens of retailers, among them Etsy and Expedia. Gemini runs the steps in the background, and users can track its progress, step in to correct it, or ask it to find a similar item and order it.
On the Galaxy Z Flip 8, a task can start from the outer Flex Window with a long press, and Gemini can now read the screen or take a photo as a prompt.
The foldables also ship with Gemini Notebook, renamed from NotebookLM, plus a six-month Google AI Pro trial on the Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8.

Osterloh Frames Gemini's Reach
Rick Osterloh, Google's devices chief, described Gemini Notebook as a way to connect the dots across a user's web pages, videos and notes. Google says the tool gathers those sources into one workspace that users can drag content into on the Fold 8's larger display. From there it can turn the same material into slide decks, podcasts or quizzes.
The reach extends well past phones.
On the Galaxy Watch 9, a raised wrist now wakes Gemini with no spoken command, a hands-free trigger that matches the Pixel Watch 4. Google and Samsung also showed two more Android XR glasses frames, from eyewear labels Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, adding to earlier designs ahead of a launch set for later this fall.
Android Switch Gets Easier
The foldables gain a native way to switch from an iPhone, a migration built into Android 17 that transfers far more data types wirelessly and drops the separate app older tools required. It carries photos, videos, contacts, messages, calendar entries, saved passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and even an eSIM.
The tool is rolling out first to select Pixel models before it reaches the new Galaxy devices.
Task automation began as a February beta limited to just six rideshare and delivery apps on the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26 series. Wednesday's jump to more than 40 apps marks its first broad release, its debut on the foldable form factor, and its clearest step yet toward agentic, hands-off AI.
