Standard Chartered forecasts that Bitcoin could reach $500,000 by 2028, driven by enhanced investor accessibility and decreasing volatility. According to Geoffrey Kendrick, the global head of digital assets research, the maturing U.S. exchange-traded fund (ETF) market is expected to contribute to this trend.

Currently, Bitcoin's volatility is anticipated to decline, as institutional interest in spot Bitcoin ETFs is poised to rise under the current U.S. administration.

Kendrick suggests that these factors could increase Bitcoin's role in an optimized dual-asset portfolio alongside gold. This shift toward an optimal portfolio balance "should lead to price appreciation in the longer term," Kendrick explains, suggesting Bitcoin could potentially hit $500,000 before the end of the Trump administration. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered's projected year-end price target for Bitcoin stands at $200,000, with a goal of $300,000 by 2026.

As of now, Bitcoin is trading at approximately $98,000. Interestingly, the Bitcoin-gold ratio has reached its lowest point since mid-November, as gold prices rise amid concerns over U.S.-China trade tensions and increased demand from China.
