Can Zcash Defend $360? Bears Are Already Looking Past It To $250

Zcash (ZEC) fell below $500 after a short-lived breakout, leaving traders with bearish near-term signals despite a still-bullish long-term structure.

Key Points:

  • ZEC lost 13.6% over seven days after its rally above $500 lasted less than a week.
  • Technical indicators weakened as $500 returned to resistance and the four-hour market structure turned bearish.
  • Liquidation and Fibonacci levels put $360 in focus, with $250 representing a deeper downside target.

Zcash Price Drop

Zcash developers deployed the Ironwood, or NU6.3, upgrade to testnet on Jul. 2, and the privacy coin gained 37% during the following two weeks as it moved through the $500 supply zone.

That momentum later reversed. ZEC fell 13.6% over the past week and another 3.1% in 24 hours, returning below $500 after printing daily losses from Jul. 19 onward.

The longer-term structure remains bullish because the broader advance ran from $20.70 to about $750, but several indicators now show weakening demand. The daily relative strength index fell below 50, the negative directional indicator moved above 20, and the accumulation-distribution line remained soft through July.

Zcash Sell Signals

The short-term setup is weaker. ZEC failed to establish $560 as support, could not challenge $644 and then met resistance near the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level, according to charts cited from TradingView.

The four-hour relative strength index approached oversold territory, which could allow a temporary rebound toward the 20-period moving average near $501. However, that move would not reverse the bearish structure unless buyers recover and hold the former resistance levels.

A liquidation heatmap from CoinGlass showed that the mid-July rally cleared clusters of short positions below $600, leaving the $360 area as the next major liquidity zone.

A deeper decline could revisit the $250 swing low formed after the Orchard bug became public.

Zcash has endured several sharp reversals in recent months, including a climb toward $750 followed by repeated battles around $500. That history makes the current breakdown important because the same level has repeatedly shifted between support and resistance since May.
