Apple's $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo appears to show documents as a two-page spread when held open like a book, a newly surfaced clip indicates ahead of Oct. 16 preorders.
Key Points:
- A clip posted Oct. 6 shows Quick Look on the iPhone Duo placing consecutive document pages side by side.
- Apple has not confirmed the layout, and its launch announcement made no mention of it.
- Preorders open Oct. 16, and the phone becomes available Oct. 23.
iPhone Duo Quick Look
Code explorer pdfu posted the video on X on Tuesday, describing a new two-page Quick Look layout for what the post called the "open book position." The clip shows an Apple Style Guide document previewed across both halves of the unfolded phone, with consecutive pages sitting side by side. Search, markup and share controls run along the right edge of the screen.
Quick Look is the built-in iOS tool that lets users preview files such as PDFs, images and spreadsheets without opening them in a separate app. Apple's Sept. 9 launch announcement made no mention of the layout.
Apple has not publicly confirmed the feature.

John Ternus On iOS 27
CEO John Ternus said in that announcement that the Duo shows "what's possible when hardware and software are engineered together."
Apple says iOS 27 on the Duo moves Lock Screen controls, the Dock and app navigation to the side of the display, and content reshapes itself as the phone folds or rotates.
Split View also puts two apps side by side, a first for any iPhone. The document layout would extend that approach to file previews, treating each half of the 7.6-inch folding screen as its own page, much like facing pages in a printed book. Apple has said the Duo will ship with iOS 27.1 but has not said whether the two-page layout is part of that release.
iPhone Duo Launch Timeline
Preorders begin at 5 a.m. PDT on Oct. 16 in more than 70 countries and regions, including the U.S., the U.K., China and India, with availability starting Oct. 23. Another 28 markets follow on Oct. 30.
Apple unveiled the Duo on Sept. 9 as its first foldable iPhone, pairing a 5.4-inch outer display with the larger screen inside and the A20 Pro chip used in the iPhone 18 Pro.
The base 256GB model costs $1,999, and storage options run up to 2TB. Hands-on videos that surfaced later in September showed a split keyboard and a page-flip animation for reading books with the phone partly folded.
